Emission and Dark Nebula combine to display the Horsehead. The Bright star is Alnitak in Orions Belt. Taken with a Canon 6d attached to the Takahashi FSQ85ED telescope, 2x tele extender used Rosette Nebula Bright Nebula and Open Cluster in Monoceros constellation, taken with a Canon 6d attached to the Takahashi FSQ85ED Telescope McLellan 1m telescope dome and Star Trail Canterbury University Mt John Observatory, McLellan 1m Telescope with Star Trail. McLellan 1m telescope dome and Star Trail

Canterbury University Mt John Observatory McLellan 1m Telescope with Star Trail. The bright lines on the ground will be cars along the main highway. Total exposure time is just over 2½ hours. To make a star trail all you need to do is take a long exposure (20 minutes, would be minimum) to do this with only one photo is usually quite risky because if at any point some external bright light enters, you have ruined the entire exposure - so I would recommend taking shorter exposures (30 seconds - 5 minutes) and then adding the bright points together in PhotoShop (or use the free StarStax software below) using shorter exposures you will also get less camera noise
